Take Time to Waste Your Life (《把力气花在你想要的生活上》) is a book I wrote during the four off-work years after I left Microsoft. It sold very well in China.
It's a collection of my own thinking on lifestyle, on quality of life, and on what it means to choose consumer products with intent. The core idea is unfashionable but honest: if you earn money, spend it — we're here to live, and that means moving toward a higher-quality way of being and toward objects made with care.
The book hit a nerve during China's economic upswing and became a bestseller. It still pays me royalties today. Not everyone will connect with the theme, but for the world of 2017 when it came out, I believe it earned its place.
