Early 2023. ChatGPT and Midjourney had just appeared, and I had a thought: try to use these new tools to make a children's book — fast.
I took our old family dog as the protagonist and a story I'd long wanted to write as the script, worked the storyboard out with ChatGPT, and let Midjourney generate the illustration for every page. Drawing on my prior self-publishing experience, I had it live on Amazon in just two days, and it picked up a small audience.
Whatever you make of the result, it was — for early 2023 — an early end-to-end run from AI to a printed, shipped book. A workflow many others soon repeated.
